A WEEK ago Division 1 Belvoir FC II knocked out Premier Division opponents Lambeg Rangers on penalties in the first round of the Gordon Hanna Trophy and the shocks continued on Saturday when Division 2 Cregagh Wanderers beat Division 1 promotion hopefuls, South Antrim 2-1.
South finished the game with eight men and while they may not be too concerned about the knock-out blow the loss of three players could affect their promotion hopes. There were surprises in the League too with FC Utd Lisburn II beating unbeaten Division 2 leaders, Braniel YM II 3-1 and Ballymacash YM needing a last gasp winner from substitute, Colin Jamison, to see off Orangefield OB III 2-1.
Braniel got the only goal of the Premier Division game at home to Lambeg Rangers and Warren YM romped to a 7-1 win over Ballynafeigh YM with Jay Hamilton and Colin Chapman helping themselves to two goals apiece. The Glaston v Belvoir FC game was off.
Clonduff YM are back on top of Division 1 with a 6-1 win over Stranmillis II, leading goalscorer, Gary Bowes getting two of them.
Gareth Shirlow scored two in the Ballymacash YM II 4-1 win over Moira Albion II and Clarawood YM had four different scores in a thrilling 4-3 win over Belvoir FC II.
FC Utd Lisburn also relied on four different goal scorers in the 4-1 success against Victoria Athletic.
Glenavy III hit seven without reply against Ballymacash YM III in Division 2 and Lambeg Rangers II surprised Lisburn Athletic with a 5-3 win and Carrowdore YM were 2-0 winners over Newtown Forest III.
In the other Gordon Hanna Trophy tie Warren YM II beat Clonduff YM II 5-2.
